Noble Bird filly romps by 12 ¾-lengths in career bow
Sunday, November 14, 2021

Strategic Bird broke in front and never looked back as she widened her lead at every point of call to win a Nov. 13 maiden special weight at Gulfstream Park by an eye-catching 12 ¾-lengths under a hand ride.

Noble Bird leads all Florida First-Crop sires with seven winners to date, arguably none more so than Strategic Bird.

The bay filly established a clear lead in the first few jumps. She sped through the first quarter-mile in :21.96 and was already pulling away from the field as she rounded the turn. She was three lengths clear at the top of the stretch and increased her lead the rest of the way despite getting no urging from jockey Edwin Gonzalez.

She finished the 5 ½-furlongs in 1:04.35 while eased up on a fast track.

The winner is owned by Gary Barber, who purchased her for $40,000 at this year’s OBS 2-year-olds in Training Sale. Strategic Bird was bred by the John Oxley Living Trust and through her fourth dam Pure Profit, hails from the royal family of Inside Information and Educated Risk.
