Liam’s Law is first winner for Ocala Stud’s Colonel Liam
Monday, July 13, 2026

Florida-bred colt Liam’s Law impressively won a $115,000 maiden special weight at Saratoga on Sunday, July 12, becoming the first winner for Ocala Stud’s freshman sire and multiple Grade 1 winner Colonel Liam.

Making just his second career start for trainer Todd Pletcher, Liam’s Law led from start to finish under jockey Flavien Prat. He set all the fractions and proved uncatchable in the lane, winning the 1 1/16-mile turf affair by 1 ¼ lengths.

Bred in the Sunshine State by Ocala Stud, Liam’s Law was acquired by West Bloodstock, agent for Robert and Lawana Low—the owners of Colonel Liam—for $120,000 at this year’s OBS March Sale. Liam’s Law is out of the winning Kitten’s Joy mare Quickasakitten.

Colonel Liam is a back-to-back winner of the $1 million Pegasus Turf Invitational Stakes (G1) at Gulfstream Park. He also won the $1 million Turf Classic S. (G1) at Churchill Downs, recording a 102 Beyer Speed Figure. Colonel Liam was a $1.2 million graduate of the OBS Spring Sale, where Jacob West purchased him on behalf of the Lows after breezing a quarter in an eye-catching :20 4/5. All told, Colonel Liam amassed earnings of more than $1.8 million in a stellar racing career.

A son of Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1) winner Liam’s Map, a half-brother to leading sire Not This Time, Colonel Liam is produced from the Bernardini mare Amazement and hails from the family of multiple Grade 1 winner Wonder Again, his second dam.
