Kantharos 2yo filly perfect in $75,000 Cassidy S.
Sunday, July 3, 2016
Cajun Delta Dawn, a maiden special weight debut winner on June 10, kept her record intact with a handy half-length win in Saturday's $75,000 Cassidy S. at Gulfstream Park.

With five black type winners accounting for six added-money victories in 2016, Kantharos is the leading active sire in Florida as well as the runaway leader on the Sunshine state's Third-Crop sire list.

Cajun Delta Dawn, a Curtis Mikkelsen homebred, got an ideal trip while stalking in third along the rail, then rallying strongly in the final furlong to gather in Perfect Kay and hold off Lirica for the win.

The final time for the 5 1/2-furlongs was 1:05.21 on a “good” main track.

The winner, out of Cajun Dawn. is a half to Mom'z Laugh, who captured Gulfstream's Sunshine Millions Distaff S. earlier this year.
