Bye Bye J cruises in the 2019 Rainbow Miss S. - Coady photography

Uncaptured's Bye Bye J had no problems overcoming a wide trip in Saturday's $100,000 Rainbow Miss S. at Oaklawn Park, rolling to a two-length win without ever seriously being asked to run by jockey Ricardo Santana, Jr.

The 3-year-old filly has won four of seven starts, including Gulfstream's House Party S. last year, and was second in the Forward Gal S. (G3) in February. She has earned $221,605 for owners Alex and JoAnn Lieblong.

Unhurried early in the four path, Bye Bye J began her advance entering the turn. Well off the rail around the bend, she struck the front in upper stretch and was going along easily the rest of the way, finishing the six furlongs in 1:11.70.

“Ricardo knows how to win races here,” winning trainer Ron Moquett said. “We didn’t give him a whole lot of explanation of what to do. We just said, ‘Find a good spot and finish up strong.’”

“What she’s shown and what she did at 7 furlongs in the Forward Gal, I think she can go a little bit farther,” Alex Lieblong said. “We’ll see if he (Moquett) can get her to go a little bit farther.”
The winner was bred by McDowell Farm and is Uncaptured's leading earner thus far in 2019. He is Florida's leading Second-Crop sire this year.
