Unlimited Budget shines in G3 Rachel Alexandra S.

Ocala Stud sales grad Unlimited Budget remained undefeated after a rousing 3 3/4-length score in the $200,000 Rachel Alexandra S. (G3) Feb. 23 at Fair Grounds Race Course. The 3-year-old filly by Street Sense, who captured the Grade 2 Demoiselle S. in November at Aqueduct, is one of the early favorites for this year's Kentucky Oaks (G1).

Ocala Stud consigned Unlimited Budget to the 2012 OBS March Selected Sale of 2-year-olds, where she brought a winning bid of $475,000 from her trainer Todd Pletcher, acting as agent for owner Mike Repole. The figure was the second-highest for a filly at the prestigious Florida sale, and fifth-highest overall.

In the Rachel Alexandra, Unlimited Budget earned 50 points in the “Road to the Kentucky Oaks” points standings and now sits atop that list with 60 points overall. She has now earned $310,200 in her three lifetime starts.

“She was much the best,” winning rider Rosie Napravnik said. “It ended up being a crazy pace up front so we were a little further back but it set up well for her and she just galloped away with it.”

Unlimited Budget, who was also bred by Ocala Stud, comes from the excellent producer Unlimited Pleasure. The Valid Appeal mare previously produced Jardin, winner of the 2008 Schuylerville S. (G3) and Beacon Shine, winner of the 2005 Flash S. (G3). Stakes placed Unlimited Pleasure is a half-sister to Outofthebox, winner of the Grade 1 Super Derby.

Ocala Stud will have a quartet of 2-year-old selling in this year's OBS March sale, which will be held on the 12th and 13th, with the under tack show on the 7th and 8th. Included in the group are a pair of colts from the first crop of their hot young sire In Summation, cataloged as hip Nos. 44 and 241.
