The Big Beast racked up his fifth First-Crop winner on Aug. 18 at Gulfstream Park with Blessed Beast's two-length maiden special weight win at six furlongs.

Second on the Florida First-Crop sire list by both earnings and winners, The Big Beast has had juveniles break their maidens at Churchill Downs, Gulfstream and Del Mar, among others.

Blessed Beast, owned and trained by Daniel Pita, rallied from third at the top of the lane, sweeping by the front runners to pull clear late.

Blessed Beast was bred by McCathan Farms in Florida and is the latest of five winners out of Sapphire Ice, who has three siblings who either won or placed in black type events.
