The Big Beast filly sparkles in Del Mar MdSpWt debut
Sunday, August 11, 2019
Inspiressa, an $850,000 purchase at the OBS March 2-year-old sale, did not disappoint in her Del Mar unveiling on Sunday, winning the 5 1/2-furlong maiden special weight by 1 1/4-lengths in eye-catching style.

Full of run from the outset, The Big Beast filly made the lead in the first furlong, tussled briefly with Frose in the first quarter-mile, then began to edge clear on the turn. Ridden with supreme confidence the entire trip by Victor Espinoza, she never saw the whip and only a minimal scrub on the neck to get the distance in 1:04.31.

Purchased by the high-powered group of Hronis Racing , West Point Thoroughbreds and William Sandbrook, Inspiressa is the fourth winner from  The Big Beast's first crop, with the quartet all winning maiden special weight races at four different tracks.

The winner was bred by Ocala Stud from the Trippi mare Lucky Trip, who is a full sister to Grade 1-placed Candrea and the multiple stakes winner Dream of Angels. Lucky Trip was bred back to The Big Beast this year.
