Rainbow Heir, the 8-time stakes-winning son of Wildcat Heir, will stand the 2018 breeding season at Ocala Stud Farm in Florida upon his retirement from racing.

He’s won 8 stakes races on both surfaces, including a Graded stakes on dirt as a 3-year-old, and he’s earned six 100-plus Beyer Speed Figure to date. Everyone knows about New Farm’s success with Wildcat Heir, and Rainbow Heir will be given a big shot to carry on his sire’s legacy in Florida.”

An earner of $731,545 to date, Rainbow Heir most recently won the $125,000 Aqueduct Turf Sprint Championship S. on Nov. 25th, running six furlongs in 1:08.60. A New Farm homebred, the chestnut colt began his career by winning his first four starts by a combined 13 ¼ lengths, including the biggest of his eight career stakes wins in the Jersey Shore S. (G3) at Monmouth as a 3-year-old, a race he dominated by five lengths in 1:09.43.

“Rainbow Heir has always reminded us a lot of his sire Wildcat Heir, who we also bred and raced. He’s a really good-looking horse like Wildcat Heir, and has his sire’s raw speed and talent,” said Ebbie Novak, principal owner of New Farm. “We are hopeful he can turn into the great sire that Wildcat Heir was, and we will support him at stud with our own mares.”

Trained by Jason Servis, Rainbow Heir was the New Jersey-bred Horse of the Year, Champion Handicap Horse and Champion Sprinter in 2014. Recently, he was named New Jersey-bred Champion Turf Runner in 2017. From his eight stakes wins to date, five have come on dirt and three on turf. He currently has 13 wins total and 20 on-the-board finishes from 30 lifetime starts. 

Rainbow Heir is by the late Wildcat Heir, who’s been Florida’s leading sire the last four years, and six times total. He is out of the stakes-placed Prospectors Gamble mare, Rainbow Pride. 

Rainbow Heir, who will stand as property of New Farm, is slated to make one or two more starts in stakes races at Gulfstream Park before retiring and taking up residency at Ocala Stud prior to the opening of the breeding shed in February. His stud fee will be announced at that time.
