Sunday, August 13, 2017
First-Crop sire Prospective chalked up his second maiden special weight winner of the weekend on Sunday at Woodbine when first-time starter Piven caught Wam Bam on the wire to win his debut by a nose.

Prospective is one of only three Florida freshman sires with at least three winners and also ranks third on the list by progeny earnings.
Piven had about four lengths to make up with about a furlong to go, but was striding out powerfully and collared Wam Bam in the final stride to sieze the win in :58.74 for the five furlongs on the synthetic surface.

Piven was bred in Florida by Wendy Christ and Carol Hershe and is owned by Derek Chin, who purchased the bay colt for $75,000 out of the OBS Spring 2-year-old sale in April.
