First-crop sire Overdriven racked up his third winner on Thursday at Gulfstream Park when Red Crescent led nearly all the way in a six-furlong maiden special weight contest to score by 2 1/4-lengths.
The 2-year-old colt's victory pushed his sire to the top of the Florida Freshman Sire list and moved him into the top 20 nationally. Winner of the Grade 2 Sanford S. during his juvenile campaign, Overdriven stood this year at Ocala Stud for $3,000 live foal stands and nurses.
Red Crescent was bred in Florida by Pamela Edel and Edward Cahir and is owned by the Equine Authority, Inc.
