Ocala Stud finishes 2011 ranked fifth among North American breeders
Thursday, January 12, 2012
Ocala Stud finished an amazing 2011 ranked fifth among all breeders in North America, with earnings of $4,069,944 from 445 starts and 95 wins. The averages of $42,841 per win and $9,145 per start were nearly double all other farms in the top 5.

Though the farm doesn't “breed the numbers to compete with the Adena Springs out there”, as David O'Farrell, assistant farm manager, says, they have been able to climb the breeders' list substantially over the past couple of years with a focus on quality. Horses bred by Ocala Stud earned more than $2.5 million in 2010, which was an increase of nearly $1.4 million from 2009.

The farm also finished in the top 10 list for breeder partnerships, checking in in the eighth spot with total earnings of $4,594,034.

Below is a list of some of the notable Ocala Stud bred runners of 2011. In addition to those on the list, Ocala Stud was represented by 15 winners from their stallion High Cotton, the sire of Currency Swap who was Florida's leading first-crop sire for the year.
