Awesome Slew, whose first crop are 2-year-olds of 2021, got off to a terrific start during Tuesday’s opening session of the OBS Spring Sale of 2-year-olds in Training, with three lots selling for an average of $131,667, over 30 times his stud fee.

Hip No. 99, consigned by RiceHorse Stable (Brandon & Ali Rice), Agent, topped the day for her sire when she sold for $220,000 to Joe Hardoon, Agent for Gold Square LLC. RiceHorse acquired the dark bay for $100,000 out of the OBS October Yearling sale.

The subject filly is out of the stakes winner Additional Prayer, making her a half-sister to multiple stakes winner and graded stakes-placed Hear My Prayer (The Big Beast).

Later in the session hip No. 295, consigned by Ocala Stud, sold to West Bloodstock, Agent for Repole Stable, Inc. for $125,000. Out of Conquest Angel, who is a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Peace and War, the subject colt is a half-brother to Pat Day Mile (G2) winner Rushie.

Awesome Slew, a multiple graded stakes winner of more than $1.2 million, will have his first runner on April 22 with Awesome Flay in a 4 ½-furlong maiden special weight race at Gulfstream Park.
