The January 17-18 OBS 2012 Winter Mixed Sale wrapped up recently with highlights for a pair of young Ocala Stud stallions in High Cotton and In Summation. The mixed sale offered horses of racing age, in addition to broodmares and yearlings, for the first time.

High Cotton, who was Florida's leading freshman sire of 2011, had four “short” yearlings sell for an average of $23,250, more than four times his stud fee of $5,000. The figure was the highest average for any Florida stallion represented in the sale.

In Summation, whose first crop are yearlings of 2012, had three sell for an average of $19,500, which is nearly five times his stud fee of $4,000. In Summation's sale average was the highest of any stallion with first yearlings.
