Montbrook, who clearly leads the Florida Sires List again in 2009, got his sixth stakes winner of the year when his speedy 6-year-old son Fleet Valid captured the $100,000 Teddy Drone S. on the Haskell undercard at Monmouth on August 2nd.
Contested over a sloppy local main track, Fleet Valid rallied in the stretch and splashed home to a gamely three-quarters of a length win, stopping the timer in a crisp 1:08.77 for the six-furlong event.
Fleet Valid earned a 98 Beyer for his third consecutive victory and first career stakes triumph. In his previous start, he earned a 105 Beyer winning an allowance/optional-claiming race at Monmouth.
Trained by Scott Volk, Fleet Valid owns eight wins from 26 starts with earnings of $304,516 for owner Shillelagh Racing Stables. The chestnut gelding was bred in Florida by Joseph and Helen Barbazon from the Valid Appeal mare Di’s Song.
