Multiple GSW millionaire Uncaptured sires first foal
Sunday, January 17, 2016
Uncaptured, Lion Heart’s multiple graded stakes-winning millionaire son, sired his first reported foal Jan. 3rd when a filly was born at J. Michael O’Farrell Jr.’s Ocala Stud Farm, where Uncaptured is standing stud in Florida.

“The filly is very nice. We hope all of the Uncaptureds are stamped like this one,” said J. Michael O’Farrell, Jr. “He’s a tremendous physical himself, and obviously had the talent and class to go with it, so we have high hopes. Uncaptured bred a very good book of mares, and we’re excited about the arrival of his first crop.”

Bred and owned by Ocala Stud, the dark bay or brown filly is out of the Proud Citizen mare Western Tornado, who hails from the immediate family of multiple G1-winning millionaire Critical Eye.

Uncaptured was the Canadian Champion 2-Year-Old Colt and Canadian Horse of the Year as a 2-year-old, becoming the first juvenile since 1984 to win Horse of the Year honors in Canada. He joined an elite list of 2-year-olds to win Horse of the Year that includes the likes of Deputy Minister.

One of North America’s overall best 2-year-olds of 2012, Uncaptured won six of seven starts including five stakes events as a juvenile. He swept the Churchill Downs graded stakes for 2-year-olds, winning the Iroquois S. (G3) and Kentucky Jockey Club S. (G2). As a 3-year-old, Uncaptured was runner-up in the Spiral S. (G2) on the Kentucky Derby trail in his seasonal debut, before going on to become a classic winner in Canada with a win in the $500,000 Prince of Wales S.

An earner of $1,072,366, Uncaptured retired to Ocala Stud where he bred 137 mares in his first book in 2015, marking the highest number of mares covered by a stallion in Florida last year. By Lion Heart, Uncaptured is out of the multiple stakes-producing Arch mare Captivating. He is set to stand his second season at Ocala Stud in 2016 for a fee of $6,000 S&N.
