Mucho Mans Gold shines in maiden win
Saturday, November 17, 2012
Gottcha Gold's eighth winner from his first crop came Friday at Calder, with Mucho Mans Gold leading every step of the way to break her maiden by a half-length going one mile on the turf. With 50% winners from starters in his first group of runners, Gottcha Gold is Florida's third-leading freshman sire.

A stakes winner at three, four and five, Gottcha Gold was also second in the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile and Grade 1 Pimlico Special. His first crop of runners includes stakes placed winners C D Gold and Uptown Anthem.

Mucho Mans Gold controlled the pace throughout her win and had plenty left to hold off any challenge in the stretch. The bay filly is the second foal out of the stakes winning mare Ponche de Leona, the dam of Mucho Macho Man, one of the top handicap horses of recent years who has wins in the Suburban H. (G2), Gulfstream Park H. (G2) and Risen Star S. (G2). The 4-year-old has earned $2,536,410.
