Sunday, June 21, 2009
Montbrook’s leading 3-year-old Big Drama became an equine millionaire on June 20th, rolling to a one-sided 7-length win in the $250,000 Red Legend S. at Charles Town.

Ridden by Eibar Coa, Big Drama settled wide in mid-pack of the two-turn, seven-furlong event through early fractions of 23.24 and a half in 46.73. Heading into the far turn, the dark bay colt began to uncork his rally and quickly forged his way to the lead, imposing his class in the stretch to kick clear to an easy win on the wire. The final time was 1:24.03 over a fast track, earning the brilliant colt a 104 Beyer Speed Figure.

Trained by David Fawkes, Big Drama earned $144,000 to move his career tally to $1,067,250 from just nine starts for owner and breeder Harold Queen. His Red Legend score marked his fifth stakes win, which also includes winning the FSS Triple Crown at Calder and the Grade 3 Delta Jackpot S. in Louisiana as a juvenile.
