Montbrook leads way at OBS March sale
Thursday, March 15, 2012
Florida's four-time champion sire Montbrook had another great showing at the recently concluded OBS March 2-year-old sale, leading the sire sales average rankings for all stallion with more than one horse sold.

Montbrook's average of $330,000 came from a pair of offerings for the 22-year-old Ocala Stud stallion, both selling on the first day of the March 13-14 auction.

Leading the way was hip No. 58, consigned by Ocala Stud, agent, and sold to Toyomitsu Hirai for $470,000. The dark bay or brown colt  is out of stakes placed My Golden Quest, by Coronado’s Quest, a half sister to graded stakes placed My Golden Song.

Later in the day, hip No. 133, also consigned by Ocala Stud, went to Lane's End Bloodstock for $190,000. The chestnut filly is out of the two-time stakes winner Silent Serenade, who is also the dam of Readybdancing, stakes placed at age two. Silent Serenade is a half-sister to Ecstatic Ride, who set the seven furlong track record while winning Remington Park's Budweiser S.
