Montbrook has top colt at OBS March sale opening session

Montbrook made a splash during day 1 of the OBS March 13-14 2-year-old sale with the highest-priced colt of the first session, one of a pair of juveniles by the Florida four-time champion sire that was ranked in the top 20 on the day

Hip No. 58, consigned by Ocala Stud, agent, was sold to Toyomitsu Hirai for $470,000. The dark bay or brown colt, whose quarter in :20 4/5 was co-fastest at Thursday’s session of the under tack show (VIDEO), is out of stakes placed My Golden Quest, by Coronado’s Quest, a half sister to graded stakes placed My Golden Song.

Later in the day, hip No. 133, also consigned by Ocala Stud, went to Lane's End Bloodstock for $190,000 (VIDEO). The chestnut filly is out of the two-time stakes winner Silent Serenade, who is also the dam of Readybdancing, stakes placed at age two. Silent Serenade is a half-sister to Ecstatic Ride, who set the seven furlong track record while winning Remington Park's Budweiser S.
