Montbrook colt sweeps FSS Stakes
Saturday, October 18, 2008
Big Drama added to the legacy of his sire’s success with juveniles, as the brilliant son of Montbrook successfully stretched out to win the $400,000 In Reality Stakes on Oct. 18th - giving him a rare sweep in the three-race series at Calder Race Course.

Sent off as the even-money favorite, Big Drama was in contention throughout, and he imposed his superiority on the field in the stretch, drawing clear to be the easiest of winners. The final time was 1:47.12 for 1 1/16 miles over a fast local main track, and the final margin was a dominant one - five lengths.

That display of domination capped what was an overall dominating FSS series for Big Drama, who earned a piece of history by becoming just the sixth juvenile to sweep the prestigious trio of stakes. He won the Dr. Fager Stakes in August by three lengths and the Affirmed Stakes last month by 3 ½ lengths, giving him the impressive sweep by 11 ½ lengths.

Trained by David Fawkes, Big Drama owns four wins from five starts, and Saturday’s lucrative win moved his earnings to $410,250 for breeder and owner Harold Queen.

By leading Florida sire Montbrook, Big Drama is out of the Notebook mare Riveting Drama.
