Khozan relocated to Ocala Stud for the 2025 breeding season
Wednesday, November 20, 2024

Khozan, Florida’s leading General Sire annually since 2020, has relocated from Journeyman Farm and will stand the upcoming breeding season at Ocala Stud, the farm announced today. He will stand for $6,000 S&N.

“We’re excited to welcome Khozan to Ocala Stud,” said David O’Farrell. “He has proven his ability to sire top-class racehorses, and we’re looking forward to offering breeders the opportunity to breed to the state’s leading sire.”

By Distorted Humor out of the multiple Graded stakes-winning A.P. Indy mare Delta Princess, Khozan was Florida’s leading First-Crop Sire in 2019 and he has topped Florida’s General Sire list each of the last four years. He is the leading general sire again in Florida in 2024 by progeny earnings ($5,034,269), number of winners (106), stakes winners (3), and black-type horses (11).

Khozan is represented this season by R Harper Rose ($377,230), winner of the $125,000 Forward Gal S. (G3) and second in the Any Limit S. at Gulfstream Park; Lure Him In ($521,233), victorious in the Sunshine Classic S. at Gulfstream Park; and Graded stakes-placed Hot Peppers ($424,950), runner-up in the Las Flores S. (G3) at Santa Anita.

In commenting on Khozan’s relocation to Ocala Stud, Journeyman’s Brent Fernung said, “Standing stallions is a seven-day-a-week job. Crystal and I decided towards the end of last breeding season that it was time for us to redirect our energy elsewhere. When we discussed where to move Khozan to, Ocala Stud was the only choice. The O’Farrells do a great job, and we know we are leaving Khozan in the best of hands.”

A half-brother to Grade 1 winners Royal Delta, Crown Queen, and Delta Prince, Khozan won his only two starts as a racehorse in exciting fashion. He posted a 102 Beyer Speed Figure in winning his career debut at Gulfstream Park for trainer Todd Pletcher.
