Kantharos filly brings $225,000 at OBS
Wednesday, April 22, 2015

A flashy filly by Champion Florida Freshman Sire Kantharos sold for $225,000 at the OBS Spring Sale on April 21st, second highest-price for a filly opening day.

Already named Ancient Secret, Hip 277 was no secret to the OBS crowd, having worked a quarter mile in an excellent :21 1/5 on April 14th. The chestnut miss was purchased by Steve Young, agent, from the De Meric Sales consignment.

A registered New York bred, the filly was bred by Lambholm, and is the second foal from her dam, Notebook's daughter Privacy. This is a famed Tartan/Nerud family, as her third dam is multiple Graded stakes winner Funistrado, by Fappiano.

Kantharos sired eight two-year-old stakes horses from his first crop; no other stallion in his siring crop had more. By City Zip--Contessa Halo, by Southern Halo, Kantharos is standing the 2015 season for $5,000 Live Foal.
