Adios Charlie's incredible mare Jean Elizabeth notched her sixth straight stakes win Saturday at Tampa Bay Downs with a gallant effort in the $100,000 Lightning City S., just her second lifetime start on the turf.

The 5-year-old's current streak dates back to last September and includes wins at four different tracks on dirt, synthetic and grass. Her record now stands at a remarkable 14-4-2 from 20 starts, with earnings of $607,668.

Rocketing to the lead right out of the gate, Jean Elizabeth and Abel Jimenez flew through the first quarter mile in a torrid :20.83. Holding a one-length lead at the top of the stretch, she dug in gamely in the lane to win by a half-length in :55.09 on the firm turf.

“I thought she made the lead pretty easy and (Jimenez) didn’t send her, but then I saw the fractions and they were flying,” trainer Larry Rivelli said. “It looked like those others were taking a shot at her in the stretch, but he (Jimenez) kind of angled her out and she took off again.”

Jean Elizabeth is out of Rooney Doodle and is owned by breeders Rivelli and Richard Ravin in partnership with Vince Foglia’s Patricia’s Hope, LLC.
