High Cotton yearlings average 10x his stud fee at OBS
Thursday, August 25, 2011
High Cotton had eight yearlings sell at the Aug. 23-25 OBS yearling sale, with $65,000 and $45,000 sellers leading the way. His average price was $25,000, ten times his stud fee, proving the value once again for Florida's leading freshman sire and one of the top 10 first crop sires in the U.S.

On opening day of the sale, hip No. 125, a bay colt consigned by Marion Bloodstock Sales, Agent, went for $65,000 to Cromwell Bloodstock, Agent. The colt is a half-brother to Show Me the Bling, who was third in the Grade 3 Schuylerville S.

The following day, another bay colt, hip No. 350, brought $45,000 from Midwest Thoroughbreds from the consignment of Lisa McGreevy's Abbie Road Farm. The colt's dam has already produced two runners who are both winners and comes from a family loaded with black type, including the likes of two-time champion mare Ashado and the multiple graded stakes winner Foresta.
