Thursday, January 3, 2013
Continuing his momentum from his first crop in 2011, High Cotton finished 2012 as Florida's leading second-crop sire, with $1,575,238 in progeny earnings, highlighted by Grade 2 Amsterdam S. winner Currency Swap, who won the 2011 Hopeful S. (G1) as a juvenile.

High Cotton also led all second-crop Florida sires with four stakes winners who accounted for five stakes wins.

High Cotton's leading earner this year was Spurious Precision, who took the Grade 2 Saratoga Special S. just three weeks after breaking his maiden impressively at the upstate New York oval.

Speak Logistics also stood out for his sire in 2012, taking the rich $300,000 In Reality S. at Calder in October. Three-year-old Tarpy's Goal also tasted stakes success in Florida last year, capturing the $75,000 OBS Sophomore S. at Tampa Bay Downs.

Following two successful seasons and a welcome reception from breeders, High Cotton's 2013 stud fee will move to $7,500 LFS&N.
