Dream of Me, winner of last year's $200,000 Dr. Fager S., got his second Gulfstream Park stakes win Saturday when he defeated heavy favorite Awesome Banner by 2 1/2-lengths in the $150,000 Unbridled S. 

High Cotton is Florida's second-leading General Sire of 2016 with 54 winners to date, as well as three stakes winners and nearly $1.7 million in progeny earnings.

Dream of Me broke alertly from the starting gate and quickly engaged Awesome Banner for the run down the backstretch, stalked to the outside by Danbury. Dream of Me's jockey Juan Leyva kept the heat on the heavy favorite around the turn and into the stretch, where Dream of Me steadily wore down his rival to post a commanding triumph. 

“The idea was to put pressure on him and make him fold, and he did,” Leyva said. “We had him the whole way.”

Dream of Me has now earned $275,350 for his owner Kathy Machesky. The winner was bred in Florida by the McKathan Brothers.
