Gottcha Gold tallies another maiden winner
Thursday, October 4, 2012
Gottcha Gold got his fifth winner Oct. 4 at Calder and is now in the second spot on the Florida Freshman Sire list.

Nightowl Earlybird out-dueled Jacksalildevil in the first half-mile then held off a late charge by Hard Working Dan to take the 5 1/2-furlong contest at Calder by a neck for his trainer Guiseppe Iadisernia.

Florida-bred Nightowl Earlybird was third in his debut on Sept. 14. He is owned by Joseph Bonaccorso, who purchased the dark bay colt for $20,000 at the OBS Horses of Racing Age sale in June.

Gottcha Gold's leading earner is Uptown Anthem, who ran third in the $73,800 Seacliff S. on Aug. 25. He is also the sire of Seacliff runner-up C D Gold, and is the only Florida freshman sire with more than one black-type performer.
