Ocala Stud’s Roadster was represented by a $120,000 first-crop colt at the OBS October Sale on Oct. 8. The gray or roan colt (Hip 480) is out of the winning Street Sense mare Bridlewise and was purchased by Sean Perl Bloodstock LLC out of the Blue Sapphire Stables consignment.
Roadster also had a filly named Whole Lotta Rosie who fetched $80,000 from Champion Equine LLC. Consigned by Abbie Road Farm (Lisa McGreevy), agent, the gray or roan filly is produced from the winning Trappe Shot mare Shotdowninflames and is a half-sister to stakes-placed Tessellate.
Roadster, a son of perennial leading sire Quality Road, won the 2019 Santa Anita Derby (G1), defeating stablemate Game Winner, the previous year’s Eclipse Award-winning 2-Year-Old Male Champion. In addition to his signature win, Roadster finished second in the Malibu S. (G1) to Omaha Beach, was second in the San Carlos S. (G2), and was runner-up to Mucho Gusto in the Affirmed S. (G3). Roadster is out of the stakes-winning and stakes-producing Silver Ghost mare Ghost Dancing and is a half-brother to Grade 1 winner and Keeneland track-record setter Ascend. Roadster was sold by his breeder, Arthur Hancock III’s Stone Farm at Keeneland September for $525,000.
