Sunday, July 26, 2009
Florida’s Leading Sire Montbrook picked up his fifth stakes winner of the year and solidified his spot atop the state’s General Sire List when Exotic Bloom won the $100,000 Windward S. July 25 at Presque Isle Downs.

A 5-year-old, Exotic Bloom picked up her first stakes win in the one-mile event, proving best by a neck to stop the clock in 1:37.35 over the local synthetic surface. Trained by Fred Seitz - who also owns the filly in partnership with Harvey Clarke - the win moved Exotic Bloom’s record to 5-2-1 from 15 starts with earnings of $202,205. Out of the Kris S. mare Melegrant, she was bred in Florida by Wiest and Heathers and was a $65,000 2-year-old in training purchase in 2006 by her current owners.

Montbrook leads all Florida sires with progeny earnings approaching $2.2 million going into the final week of July.
