Big Drama draws the rail for G1 Breeders' Cup Sprint
Tuesday, November 2, 2010
Big Drama ranks as one of the top choices in the Nov. 6 Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1) at Churchill Downs. One of a dozen horses entered in the $2 million, six furlong dash, Big Drama will break from the rail as the 7-2 second choice on the morning line. The Sprint has a scheduled post time of 2:30 pm ET.

Big Drama is a specialist at the six furlong distance, sporting a 4-1-0 record in five starts.

The 4-year-old colt is a son of Montbrook, Florida's leading sire of the past two years and the number one in terms of career stakes winners. Big Drama is the all-time leading earner for his sire, with $1,559,560 in his 15 career outings.

Big Drama has been his usual consistent self this season. After taking the first half of the year off, he won the Ponche H. and Smile Sprint H. (G2), both at Calder. He then was shipped to Saratoga for a pair of Grade 1's, the Vanderbilt H. and Forego; he was second with tough racing luck in both races.

Big Drama is trained by David Fawkes for Harold Queen, who also bred the dark bay/brown colt.

Ocala Stud will also be represented in this year's Breeders' Cup with Juvenile Fillies starter R Heat Lightning. The 2-year-old filly was bred, born, raised and readied for racing at Ocala Stud for owner/breeder E. Paul Robsham.

Like Big Drama, R Heat Lightning is the second choice on the morning line, at 4-1. She will come from post 3 in the field of 13 vying for the $2 million purse. The Juvenile Fillies runs on Nov. 5 and will go off at 6:50 pm ET.

R Heat Lightning is 2-2-0 in four starts, earning $252,800. Her biggest victory came in the Grade 1 Spinaway at Saratoga. She was then second to Juvenile Fillies favorite A Z Warrior in the Grade 1 Frizette.
