First-Crop sire Awesome Slew was represented by his second winner on July 3 when Awesome Flay captured a five-furlong maiden race at Gulfstream Park.

The bay juvenile showed marked determination racing between horses while battling for the lead, eventually wearing down early leader Sir Outlaw and holding off Kohaku by a neck.

Awesome Flay is owned by his breeder William G. Law, Jr. and is the fourth foal, all winners out of the multiple stakes winner Flay Mignon.

Awesome Slew joined the Ocala Stud roster in 2019 after amassing $1,223,310 in earnings in a career that included graded stakes victories at three and four and placing in the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1) and Carter H. (G1).
