Another eye-catching performance by High Cotton firster
Saturday, August 6, 2011
Currency Swap, a 2-year-old colt by High Cotton, made a  dazzling debut with a six length romp on Aug. 6 at Saratoga, giving the Ocala Stud first-year stallion his fifth career winner. High Cotton began the day ranked ninth on the North American first-crop sire list, and Currency Swap's $30,000 share of the purse will likely move his sire further up that list.

The six and one half furlong sprint didn't start ideally for Currency Swap, as he was extremely wide in the backstretch after breaking from the outside in the field of nine. He continued in the four path around the turn, yet still made up ground on the leaders. He struck the front about 3/16ths of a mile from the wire and went on to win easily in 1:17.02.

Currency Swap is a Fasig-Tipton 2010 Summer Yearling sales product, bringing $70,000 from Nick de Meric, agent, at the July sale. The bay juvenile races in the colors of Klaravich Stables Inc. and William H. Lawrence.

Bred in Florida by Stonecliff Farm, Currency Swap is out of Echo Bluff, who is a full sister to half-million dollar earner Your Bluffing and a half-sister to Grade 3-placed Nacho Friend.
