Stone Silent wins her debut in the F-T Debutante S. at Santa Anita Park - Benoit photo

Stone Silent gave her owners an immediate return on their investment when she won Saturday's $100,000 Fasig-Tipton Debutante S. at Santa Anita Park in her first career start.

The 2-year-old filly was purchased for $410,000 by her owners West Point Thoroughbreds, Talla Racing LLC and Edwin Barker out of the OBS 2-year-old sale in March from the Ocala Stud consignment.

Stone Silent, who had worked a very quick :20 2/5 quarter-mile at the auction’s under tack show, rocketed out of the gate on Saturday to take command immediately. She had the lead by a length after a quarter-mile, increased it to three lengths at the top of the stretch, and cruised through the lane to win by 3 ¼-lengths in :58.28 for the five furlongs on a fast main track.

“I think some of the commentators picked up on the fact that she worked :20 2/5 in the sale, so she’s very quick,” said Stone Silent’s trainer John Sadler. “We were hoping that she went through and could run early because I knew she had a ton of speed. We hadn’t really pressed her hard in the morning, we just got her fit because we knew the speed was in there. She’ll go into the stake program for 2-year-old fillies at Del Mar.”

Stone Silent, who earned $60,000 for the win, was bred in Florida by William Terrell and Frank De Savino. The bay filly’s dam Travelator has produced seven winners, including the stakes winner Hollywood Jet. Travelator produced a Adios Charlie filly in 2021 and was bred to him for this year as well.
