Monday, April 27, 2015
Adios Charlie continued his red-hot commercial success, when a colt from his first crop sold for $420,000 during the third session of the OBS Spring Sale.

Adios Charlie has made an auspicious debut with his inaugural crop, siring $675,000 and $600,000 two-year-olds in addition to the $420,000 OBS colt. Adios Charlie is by far Florida's leading sire of two-year-olds in training this year, with 10 offered, 10 sold, and an average price of $210,000.

The latest high-priced Adios Charlie was Hip 727, who worked in :21.1 at the April 16th under tack show, then sold to L R K on April 23rd. Bred and consigned by Ocala Stud, the colt is the first foal from a half-sister to Grade 1-winning juvenile Rigoletta, and out of a half-sister to the dam of Eclipse Champion and Breeders' Cup winner Musical Romance.

Ocala Stud's Michael O'Farrell expressed his pride in the success of his young stallion in an interview with the TDN. "They look and act the part. He has a high percentage of quality-looking horses for the size of his crop, so we're excited about it. We hope they run and we believe they will."

A New York Grade 2 stakes winner by Indian Charlie, and himself a $400,000 OBS two-year-old, Adios Charlie is standing the 2015 season for $3,000 Live Foal.
