Bucchero repelled several challenges en route to a 1 ½-length victory in Saturday night’s $150,000 To Much Coffee S. at Indiana Grand, the first stakes win for the 3-year-old colt by Kantharos, who is Florida’s leading Second-Crop sire with nearly $1.5 million in progeny earnings.

Speeding to the front right out of the gate, Bucchero set a solid pace early before Country Minister sped up the rail to get his head in front at the half-mile marker. Bucchero fought right back, going up by a half-length after three quarters in 1:10.81.
Coming into the stretch, Mister Pollard made a run for the lead, but Bucchero held him off throughout the final quarter mile to secure the win. The final time for the 1 1/16-miles was 1:43.82 (VIDEO).

Previously stakes-placed on two occasions, Bucchero is now 3-3-0 in seven starts for his owner Ironhorse Racing LLC, earning $203,717. The colt was bred by Southern Chase Farm, Inc. and Karen Dodd.
