$525K Overdriven colt, hip No. 517, at the 2016 OBS April sale

First-crop sire Overdriven was one of the stars during Day 2 of the OBS Spring Sale of 2-year-olds in Training when a colt by the Ocala Stud stallion brought a top bid of $525,000 from trainer Peter Miller.

The price is the second-highest of the sale through its first two days.

Miller's interest in the colt seemed natural given that he trains his half-brother Calculator, winner of the  Sham S. (G3) and runner-up to American Pharoah in the Del Mar Futurity (G1) and FrontRunner S. (G1).

The colt, cataloged as hip No. 517 was consigned by Ocala Stud. Bred in Florida, the colt's dam Back to Basics is a sister to a trio of black type winners, including Grade 3 winner Atticus Kristy.

"I had my eye on him since the preview," said Miller after the purchase. "Ocala Stud had tipped me off at the March sale that Calculator's brother was a good one, so I was prepared a month ago. He previewed like the good horse that he is. I just hope he is another Calculator."

Overdriven, who also had a $120,000 colt during Wednesday's session, has a total of 5 lots remaining in the four-day sale, which runs through April 22.
