No First-Crop sire had a better Wednesday than Ocala Stud's The Big Beast at the OBS March 2-year-olds in Training Sale, with a $850,000 filly and $450,000 colt during the closing day of the two-day auction in central Florida.

David Ingordo, agent for West Point Thoroughbreds, signed the ticket for the $850,000 filly, who was consigned by Ocala Stud.

“It's for a West Point partnership. She'll go out to California and John Sadler will probably get her,”  Ingordo said after signing the ticket. “When you see a horse that you just know is a runner... she's it. The Big Beast was a very good horse, so he isn't without some merit on his own.

“Ocala Stud is like the Lane's End of Ocala. The O'Farrell family--they do a great job, they pioneered this. We're excited to have her.”

Also bred by Ocala Stud, the filly is out of the Trippi mare Lucky Trip, sister to stakes winners Dream of Angels and Candrea.

The Big Beast's top colt on Wednesday was hip No. 418, consigned by L. G., agent and purchased by trainer Peter Miller, agent, for $450,000.  The colt worked a brilliant eighth-mile in :09 3/5 seconds during the Under Tack show.
