A filly from the first crop of The Big Beast sold for $230,000 Tuesday at the May 20-21 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Sale of 2-year-olds. The gray/roan juvenile had breezed a furlong in 10 seconds flat, co-fastest of the Under Tack Show.

Cataloged as hip No. 535 and consigned by Wavertree Stables Inc., agent, the gray/roan filly was purchased by Black Type Thoroughbreds. She is out of the Exchange Rate mare Therese, who is a half-sister to Grade 1 winner and sire Proud Accolade.

The Big Beast has had a very successful auction season with his first crop of 2-year-olds, with an average of $146,438, more than 24 times his stud fee. His first runner, Ms Headley, was a winner on debut in a Keeneland maiden special weight.
