The Big Beast filly fires bullet at OBS Under Tack Show
Wednesday, June 3, 2020
Leading Florida Second-Crop sire The Big Beast had a filly breeze the co-fastest quarter-mile during Wednesday's session of the OBS Under Tack Show for next week's Two-Year-Olds in Training sale, which runs June 9-12.

Bred and consigned by Ocala Stud, hip No. 558 went the quarter-mile in :20 4/5 (VIDEO). The gray/roan filly is out of Romantic Juliet, who has produced two winners and is a full sister to multiple stakes winner High Resolve.

“We expected her to breeze very well, but you never know until you get down to it,” said Ocala Stud's David O'Farrell. “We are very ecstatic with the breeze, she looked good doing it and she came back good.”

“I think he's done really well,” O=Farrell said of The Big Beast's excellent start at stud. “He wasn't a 2-year-old himself per se, so I think they are going to be better as 3-year-olds and going on. I think it's a bonus that they performed well at the 2-year-old sales, but I think they are able to carry their speed a little bit from what we've seen with his first crop. I think the best is yet to come with him.”

The Big Beast is currently second on the Florida Second-Crop sire list, with a dozen winners topped by his stakes-winning 3-year-old filly Hear My Prayer. The Big Beast has a total of six lots remaining in the sale, which starts daily at 10 a.m. ET.
