Stone Silent rides rail to Captiva Island S. victory

Adios Charlie’s 4-year-old filly Stone Silent chalked up her third stakes win in a row Sunday at Gulfstream park with a rail-skimming victory in the $100,000 Captiva Island S.

The bay filly began her current streak over the Gulfstream turf course on Dec. 31 in the Abundantia S., then annexed the Ladies Turf Sprint S. on Feb. 11, setting her up for the Captiva Island.

Like she did in her previous two starts, she broke well then settled very nicely in second behind Future Is Now. Around the turn she dropped back to fourth as she patiently waited for an opening. When daylight appeared after turning for home, Stone Silent came up the inside of Future Is Now and rolled past her to win in hand by a half-length.

With four lifetime stakes wins and a record of 5-2-1 from 11 starts, Stone Silent has earned $360,978 for Victoriam Farm LLC. She was bred in Florida by William Terrell and Frank De Savino.

Stone Silent’s dam Travelator won seven stakes and placed in an additional 10 added money events and is also responsible for Stone Silent’s half-brother, stakes winner Hollywood Jet.

Stone Silent is one of a dozen stakes winners by Adios Charlie, a perennial Florida top-five sire. Adios Charlie will be represented by a pair of 2-year-old colts in the upcoming OBS March Sale, which runs March 12-14.
