Ocala Stud stallions Girvin and Adios Charlie both had impressive numbers during Tuesday’s opening session of the 2022 OBS March 2-year-old sale.

Girvin, whose first crop are 2-year-olds of 2022, had Hip. No. 198 bring a winning bid of $240,000 from One Up Bloodstock. Consigned by Ocala Stud, the Florida-bred filly is out of the Quality Road mare The Shady Lady, dam of two winners from as many horses to race. The Shady Lady is a half-sister to a pair of stakes winners, while the subject filly’s third dam is multiple Grade 1 winner Pretty Discreet, the dam of Grade 1 winner and sire Discreet Cat.

Veteran Adios Charlie’s top seller of the day was hip No. 213, also consigned by Ocala Stud, and purchased by the partnership of West Point and Talla Racing for $410,000. The Florida-bred filly had worked a quarter-mile in a swift :20 2/5 at the Under Tack Show. The bay’s dam is seven-time stakes winner Travelator.

Girvin’s first foals will be racing this spring. He bred an average of 112 mares in his first three seasons and is standing for $6,000 S&N in 2022.
