A colt from the first crop of Grade 1 winner Roadster hammered for $625,000 during Wednesday’s session of the OBS Spring 2-year-olds in Training sale, the third-highest price paid for a colt during the session.
Consigned by Ocala Stud, agent and catalogued as hip No. 596, the gray colt went to Shunsuke Kubota.
Bred in Florida by Speedway Stables LLC, the juvenile is out of European Group 3 winner Candy Store (IRE) and is a half-brother to Grade 2-placed Vive Veuve and stakes-placed Peanutbutterbombe. Candy Store is a half-sister to Italian champion The Conqueror.
Roadster has eight lots remaining in the catalog for the last two sessions of the sale that ends Friday.
Roadster, who stands for $7,500 S&N, will have his first starters April 19th at Gulfstream Park when the colts Strike and Ford Roadster contest a 4 ½-furlong maiden special weight affair for 2-year-olds.
