Adios Charlie recorded his first stakes winner on Wednesday when R Luckey Charlie battled to a nose victory in the $150,000 Governor's S. at Indiana Downs.

The 3-year-old, owned by his breeder Richard Batz, improved his record to 3-0-2 in eight starts. The dark bay, who was previously twice stakes-placed, has now earned $154,097.

R Luckey Charlie narrowly prevailed in what turned into a two-horse race in the final furlong, nosing out Badabing Badaboom, with some eight lengths back to the third-place finisher.

Adios Charlie, who stood for $3,000 in 2016, has a greater than 50% strike rate of winners from starters this year.
