R Adios Jersey cruised to a 6 ½-length victory in the $90,000 Sheer Drama S. Saturday at Gulfstream Park, the fourth career stakes win for the 5-year-old Adios Charlie mare.

R Adios Jersey looked like a winner every step of the way in the seven-furlong contest, breaking on top and holding a one-length lead through the first quarter-mile. After a half in :45.31, she was up two lengths and going along very easily. She was given her cue in upper stretch and bound away from the field to finish up in 1:23.28 on the “good” main track.

“She was more like her old self today. I couldn’t be more proud,” said Georgina Baxter, who trains R Adios Jersey for Averill Racing LLC, ATM Racing LLC and Jayson Werth. “She has a big heart. Seven furlongs, blinkers off, and Edwin (Gonzalez) gave her a great ride.”

With the win, R Adios Jersey has a very respectable record of 7-2-2 in 14 starts and has earned $373,245. She was bred in Florida by Ocala Stud and Michael O’Farrell Jr.

R Adios Jersey is one of Adios Charlie’s five stakes horses this year. In the past month Adios Charlie has accounted for a pair of Saratoga stakes horses:  Sanford S. (G3) third Dickens and $150,000 Galway S. runner-up Stone Silent.
