First-Crop sire Awesome Slew got his third winner of the week on Aug. 13 when the 2-year-old colt Tigre rolled to a 5 ½-length maiden special weight win at Gulfstream Park.

Tigre was kept several lengths from the front until approximately three furlongs remained in the 1 mile and 70 yard race. He moved up along the rail, then switched to the outside in midstretch, and with a very quick turn of foot, blew by the leaders to win going away.

Tigre is a Laurin Stable homebred out of the Put It Back mare Backstage.

Awesome Slew no has five winners, second only to fellow Ocala Stud stallion Girvin on the Florida First-Crop list.
