Dreaming of Snow was all heart in Sunday’s $150,000 Suncoast S. at Tampa Bay Downs, fending off last year’s presumptive 2-year-old filly champion by a neck in the 1 mile and 40 yard race for 3-year-old fillies.

Dreaming of Snow is the second stakes winner of the year for Jess’s Dream, who already has accounted for 16 winners in 2023, tying him for the most by any Florida stallion.

After a very good break from post five, Dreaming of Snow took the lead going into the first turn, moving over to the rail as the field entered the backstretch. Dreaming of Snow was up by a length after a half-mile in :47.07. She led the way around the final bend before Wonder Wheel made her presence felt at the top of the stretch.

With Wonder Wheel bearing down on the outside, Dreaming of Snow dug deep and repelled the challenge, finishing the distance in 1:40.18 on a fast track.

“She’s been training really well and getting better and better,” said trainer Gerald Bennett, who owns Dreaming of Snow under his Winning Stables banner with Team Equistaff. “You had to be on the rail today and I told Samy (Camacho) to put her on the lead, and she kept going. She likes this track, so you can’t win it if you’re not in it.”

The win made Dreaming of Snow 3-0-0 in five stars, with earnings of $170,850.

Dreaming of Snow was bred in Florida by Karyn Philipp.
