In Summation filly stays perfect after first stakes win
Saturday, January 28, 2017
Equation, a well-bred daughter of In Summation, chalked up her fourth win in as many starts with a gritty half-length win in the $50,000 Big Easy S. on Saturday at Fair Ground Race Course.

Prior to Saturday, Equation took a Turfway Park maiden special weight on the Polytrack, as well as turf allowance races at Arlington Park and Churchill Downs. The Big Easy would be her stiffest test to date, but the 4-year-old filly would prove up to the task as she repelled a pair of challenges in the stretch to finish the 5 1/2-furlongs on the firm turf in 1:03.44.

“They told me not to rush her too much, let her get in a rhythm and come on home,”  winning jockey Jimmy Graham said. “She did just that and she finished up really well. In between her break (since her last race at Churchill on Nov. 20), she’s done nothing but good and did it again today.”

Equation has now earned $87,990 for her owner Ben McElroy. Bred in Florida by Centaur Farms, Equation is a half-sister to three stakes winners, including Grade 3 winner Atticus Kristy.

In Summation was a top-five Florida sire in 2016 with 58 winners and progeny earnings topping $2.3 million. He is standing this year at Ocala Stud for $2,500 live foal.
