High Cotton fillies bring big dollars at OBS March Select 2yo sale
Tuesday, March 12, 2013
A pair of fillies sold for six figures during the first day of the March 12-13 OBS Selected Two-Year-Olds in Training sale in central Florida. High Cotton, who stands this year at Ocala Stud for $7,5000, is Florida's second-ranked third-crop sire, keeping him right on pace with last year, when he wound up leading the sophomore standings in the Sunshine State.

Leading the way on Tuesday was hip No. 98, who brought a winning bid of $340,000 from Pelican LLC, with trainer Peter Miller as agent. The winning bid wound up the fourth-highest of the session.

The chestnut filly was consigned by Steven Venosa's SVG Thoroughbreds. Bred in New York, the filly is a half-sister to the 3-year-old Den's Legacy, winner of last year's Generous S. (G3) at Hollywood Park and second in the Sham S. (G2) in January at Santa Anita.

A bit earlier in the day, hip No. 41, consigned by Crupi's New Castle Farm, agent, sold for $130,000 to Passion Stables, Inc. The dark bay Florida-bred filly is out of the stakes-placed mare Revealing Blush and comes from the same family as the incomparable champion sprinter and sire Precisionist.
