Girvin’s first lot through the ring Tuesday at the OBS Spring Sale of 2-year-olds in Training brought plenty of attention from bidders, ultimately selling for $300,000 to Champion Equine LLC.

Consigned by Ocala Stud, hip No. 112 had recorded a :21 seconds-flat breeze during last week’s Under Tack preview.

The Florida-bred bay is out of the top producer Alotofappeal, who has nine winners to date, led by stakes winner B C’s Train and a quartet of stakes-placed winners.

Girvin, whose first foals are 2-year-olds this year, was among the best 3-year-olds of his generation, winning the Haskell Inv. (G1), Louisiana Derby (G1) and Risen Star S. (G2).

The OBS sale runs daily through Friday, with 11 lots remaining in the catalog for Girvin.

Through his first three seasons at Ocala Stud, Girvin has bred an average of 112 mares. He stands the 2022 season for $6,000 S&N.
