Northern Cotton galloped to an easy 4 3/4-length victory on Sept. 25 to give High Cotton his seventh winner from his first crop. The Ocala Stud stallion leads all Florida freshman sires with $379,713 in progeny earnings, including $180,000 garnered by Currency Swap for his victory in the Grade 1 Hopeful S. at Saratoga.

Florida bred Northern Cotton was never seriously threatened in the five furlong contest, getting the distance in :59.60 seconds. The winner is the first foal out of the stakes-placed mare My Golden Quest, who is a half-sister to My Golden Song, third in both the Holy Bull S. and Aventura S.
